Investigators have identified the deceased child as 3-year-old Journi Harris of Jennings, MO.
Accident Reconstruction is investigating a two-vehicle accident that happened on July 25 on Interstate 70 in the Hyde Park neighborhood.
Shortly before 8:10 a.m., officers received a call for an “Accident with Injuries” on eastbound I-70 near the Salisbury exit. A preliminary investigation revealed a Dodge Challenger was travelling eastbound on I-70 weaving in and out of traffic at a high rate of speed. The Challenger struck a 2020 International semi-truck which was travelling in lane #2 of eastbound I-70. The collision caused the Challenger to overturn.
A 3-year-old rear passenger of the Challenger was ejected from the car and transported to the hospital where she was pronounced deceased. A 22-year-old woman, who was a front seat passenger of the Challenger, was transported to the hospital and listed in stable condition. The driver of the Challenger, a 26-year-old man, was transported to the hospital and listed in stable condition. The driver of the 2020 International semi-truck was not injured.
Accident Reconstruction is handling the ongoing investigation.
