UPDATE: On October 28, 2025, an autopsy of the male victim was conducted and revealed he suffered blunt force trauma to his head/face and signs of strangulation. He has been identified as 18-year-old Joseph Collins of St. Louis City. The Homicide Division is continuing an investigation into the circumstances of this incident.
A death investigation is underway after an unknown male was located deceased with injuries on October 27, 2025 in The Ville.
Around 9:30 a.m., officers received a ‘sudden death’ call in the 4100 block of St. Louis Ave. Upon arriving, they located the unknown male on the ground suffering from unknown/unconfirmed head injuries. EMS responded and pronounced the man dead at the scene. The Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy to confirm the cause of death. The Homicide Division assumed the ongoing investigation, pending autopsy results.
