Detectives Attempting to ID Participants of Street Takeover Which Led to Blocking of Police SUV

On March 14, 2026, SLMPD officers responded to the intersection of Gravois and Morgan Ford after receiving multiple 911 calls reporting a street takeover involving fireworks — creating a significant public safety risk.

When officers arrived, they encountered numerous vehicles and individuals blocking the intersection. Officers inside a marked patrol SUV were quickly surrounded by a large crowd, preventing them from accessing the scene despite emergency equipment being activated.

During the street takeover at the intersection, a woman who was hanging out of a moving vehicle was ejected and suffered multiple non-life-threatening injuries.

Surrounding a police vehicle is dangerous and unacceptable. Behavior like this interferes with police operations and creates serious safety risks for everyone involved — including officers, bystanders, and drivers.

Our officers remained professional in a very difficult situation, but their safety was placed at risk. The SLMPD is asking for the public’s help in identifying those involved in this street takeover, which led to the marked patrol unit being surrounded.

Residents and visitors have the right to enjoy our city — but dangerous and reckless behavior like this will not be tolerated.

If you have any information about this incident or recognize anyone involved, please contact a District 1 detective at (314) 444-0100.
