Investigators have identified the deceased driver as 55-year-old Clark Williams from Inman, South Carolina.
Accident Reconstruction is investigating after a Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash on Interstate 64 Eastbound near the S. 6th Street exit, just before 11:00 p.m. on July 13.
A preliminary investigation indicates that a silver 2021 Chrysler Pacifica was traveling eastbound on Interstate 64 in the exit lane for the S. 6th Street exit.
The driver of the Pacifica attempted to change lanes and the Pacifica struck the impact attenuator. After striking the impact attenuator, the Pacifica struck the right side of a white 2024 Kenworth Tractor-Trailer, struck the median, and then was struck by the Tractor-Trailer.
The driver of the Pacifica was transported by EMS to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
The driver of the Kenworth Tractor-Trailer was not injured.
The investigation is ongoing.
