Fight Leads to Shooting, Injuring a Man outside Molly’s in Soulard

District 3 is investigating a fight that led to a man being shot in the leg on July 10 outside Molly’s in Soulard.

Around 11:25 p.m., officers received a call for a “Fight” followed by a “Shooting” outside the bar. Upon arriving, officers located a 51-year-old man who had been shot in the leg. The suspect (suspect #1), a 28-year-old man1, was detained at the scene.

A preliminary investigation revealed suspect #1 and another unknown male (suspect #2) who was with suspect #1 reportedly stole a phone and wristwatch from a patron inside the bar. When removed from the bar, a fight ensued outside between several victims and both suspects after suspect #1 struck the 51-year-old victim in the head. During the fight, suspect #1 retrieved a firearm and shot the 51-year-old victim.

The victim was transported to the hospital and listed in critical/stable condition. The 28-year-old suspect #1 was taken into custody. The second suspect fled. The investigation is ongoing.
