Around 8:00 p.m. on November 4, 2025, detectives with the Force Investigations Unit were contacted by the St. Louis City Justice Center regarding a male detainee who died.
A preliminary investigation reveals the detainee, a man in his 50s, was found during an apparent medical emergency on November 4, 2025. Medical personnel responded and performed life-saving measures. The man was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
While the investigation is early, there are no obvious signs of trauma.
SLMPD’s Force Investigations Unit is responsible for investigating all in-custody deaths and deadly force incidents involving law enforcement that occur within the City of St. Louis. Detectives will conduct a thorough and comprehensive investigation and prepare a full report.
