Around 11 p.m. on February 2, 2026, the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department was notified of an officer in need of aid regarding a shooting involving St. Louis County Police in the city’s Near North Riverfront neighborhood.
A preliminary investigation revealed St. Louis County Police Officers pursued a vehicle wanted in connection to a shots fired incident that occurred in St. Louis County. The pursuit ended in the area of N. 2nd Street and E Grand Avenue where St. Louis County Officers fired at an armed suspect. The suspect, a man in his 60s, was shot. EMS was requested to give life saving aid, but the suspect died at the scene. No St. Louis County Police Officers were injured during the shooting. The suspect’s firearm was recovered from the scene.

29 years old with 6 years of law enforcement experience
28 years old with 3 years of law enforcement experience
28 years old with 3Â and a half years of law enforcement experience
22 years old with 1 year of law enforcement experience
25 years old with 5 years of law enforcement experience
The SLMPD Force Investigation Unit, which investigates law enforcement encounters that result in death or life-threatening injuries within the City of St. Louis, is handling the ongoing investigation. St. Louis County Police are investigating the original shots fired incident that occurred in St. Louis County. SLMPD Detectives will conduct a thorough and comprehensive investigation of the officer-involved shooting portion and prepare a full report.
