Man Carjacked in Hamilton Heights/Arrest Made After Pursuit

District 5 officers responded to a call for a Carjacking in the 1400 block of Hodiamont shortly after 11:00 p.m. on August 14.

A 29-year-old man told officers he had just parked his 2014 Nissan Altima when he was approached by four men wearing dark clothing and masks. One of the men produced a handgun and they all announced a robbery.

The man armed with the handgun struck the 29-year-old man in the head with the firearm. The suspects entered the man’s Nissan Altima and fled the area.

While speaking with officers, the 29-year-old man lost consciousness. EMS transported the man to an area hospital where he was listed in critical condition.

Around 2:40 a.m. on August 15, detectives in the Real Time Crime Center advised officers that the carjacked Nissan Altima was in the area of Dr. Martin Luther King and Union. Officers located the vehicle in the 1600 block of Union and initiated a pursuit after the vehicle failed to stop when officers activated their emergency lights and siren.

The pursuit entered St. Louis County and ended in the 2100 block of Edmund. The driver of the carjacked vehicle fled on foot and made good his escape. A 22-year-old man was arrested after he fled from the vehicle on foot and resisted arrest.

Three firearms, 2 rifles and a handgun, were recovered inside of the carjacked vehicle.
