Investigators have identified the deceased driver as 49-year-old William Cowley of the 3300 block of Missouri Avenue.

Accident Reconstruction is investigating a fatal accident that occurred on August 22 in the 500 block of Vandeventer.
A preliminary investigation revealed a male was driving a White Jeep Wrangler around 4:44 a.m. when the vehicle hit a railroad bridge pier and then caught on fire. It’s unclear why the vehicle collided with the pier.
The male was ejected from the Jeep.
EMS responded but the driver died at the scene. The investigation remains ongoing.
An update on the victim’s identity will be released once available.
