Man Fatally Struck by Car in Wells / Goodfellow

Accident Reconstruction is investigating a fatal pedestrian accident that occurred on August 19 in the Wells / Goodfellow neighborhood.

A preliminary investigation revealed that shortly before 6 a.m., a witness traveling west in the 5300 block of Natural Bridge at Arlington observed an unknown male pedestrian crossing north across Natural Bridge. The pedestrian was within the crosswalk, and the witness stopped at the crosswalk at a yellow flashing light in lane #1 to allow the pedestrian to cross.

During this time, a 2010 Buick Enclave was travelling west on Natural Bridge approaching the aforementioned crosswalk. As the driver of the Buick entered the intersection, the Buick struck the pedestrian with the left front corner of the vehicle. It is believed the driver’s vision of the pedestrian may have been obstructed by the witness who stopped to allow the pedestrian to pass.

EMS responded and transported the pedestrian to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The driver of the Buick remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, which remains ongoing.
