UPDATE: Detectives Investigating Murder-Suicide After Man, Infant Found Shot

UPDATE: The 9-month-old infant has been identified as Ophelia Daniels. The 21-year-old man has been identified as Zacchaeus Daniels.


UPDATE: Homicide detectives have been investigating this shooting since February 28 and have conducted numerous interviews. This incident is being investigated as a murder-suicide. The investigation remains ongoing. Identification of the man and infant will be released when positive ID is finalized and next of kin is notified.


Homicide Detectives are investigating the deaths of a 21-year-old male and a 9-month-old female that occurred on February 28 in the 5000 block of Cates.

Shortly before 8:15 p.m., officers received a shooting call at a residence at the location. Upon arriving, they located the man suffering from a gunshot wound and the infant also suffering from a gunshot wound. EMS responded and pronounced the man dead at the scene. The infant was transported to a hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

At this time, a suspect in this incident is not being sought; however, an investigation into the circumstances around what led up to the shooting is still underway.
