District 6 is investigating a shooting that occurred on July 23 at the parking lot of the United Mart gas station (4901 Union) in the Mark Twain neighborhood.
Preliminary investigation revealed that around 11:30 p.m., officers were called to the gas station and located witnesses who reported hearing a shooting at the location. A shooting victim, a 24-year-old man, had been privately transported to the hospital suffering from gunshot wounds prior to police arriving. It is unknown what led to the incident at this time as the victim refused to provide a statement of what occurred. However, it is believed an altercation preceded the shooting.
