District 3 is investigating a shooting that happened on March 23, 2025 in the 2700 block of Keokuk.
A 28-year-old man told officers he was sleeping inside a residence around 12:40 p.m. when he was awoken by an unknown male suspect rummaging through items in his room. The 28-year-old said when he woke up, the suspect advised him not to say anything and then fired a “warning shot” in his direction.
The 28-year-old said the suspect then shot him in the leg before fleeing from the scene. EMS responded and transported him to the hospital where he was listed in stable condition. The investigation is ongoing.
