District 5 is investigating a shooting that left a 35-year-old man injured on August 14 in the West End neighborhood.
Shortly after 11:40 a.m., officers received a call to the 5900 block of Etzel for a shooting. Upon arriving, they located the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. A preliminary investigation revealed the man was throwing trash in the dumpster behind an apartment complex when two unknown male suspects fired shots at the victim. The suspects fled in a light colored Dodge Ram after the incident.
EMS responded and transported the victim to the hospital where he was listed in critical condition. The investigation remains ongoing.
