UPDATE: A 58-year-old male was arrested for this incident. He has been charged by the Circuit Attorney’s Office with Murder 1st Degree, Armed Criminal Action, and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
UPDATE: The victim has been identified as 45-year-old Eddie Smith. The victim’s family has been notified.
Homicide Detectives are investigating a shooting that occurred on September 18, 2025 in Mount Pleasant.
Shortly before 1 a.m., officers received a ShotSpotter call followed by a shooting call in the 3100 block of Osceola. Upon arriving at the scene, officers located a 45-year-old man in the street suffering from gunshot wounds.
EMS responded and transported the 45-year-old man to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. An investigation into the circumstances of the shooting remains underway.
