Pursuit Leads to Shooting Involving Law Enforcement

Around 11:00 AM on May 29, 2025, District 1 officers spotted a vehicle that was wanted for an armed robbery that occurred earlier in the month.

Officers attempted to make a traffic stop but the vehicle fled and took officers on a lengthy pursuit that ended near Natural Bridge and Clara.

The suspect fled the vehicle on foot and hid in a heavily brushed area along railroad tracks.

Around 11:40 AM, law enforcement located the suspect hiding in the heavy brush and gave verbal commands. Shots were then fired by law enforcement.

A St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department officer with 5 years of service fired their weapon along with a member of the FBI Fugitive Task Force.

The suspect, a man believed to be in his 20s, was transported to the hospital where he died.

Officers were pursuing the vehicle wanted in connection to an armed robbery that occurred in the area of Olive and Compton on May 21, 2025. During the armed robbery, multiple items were stolen from the BP gas station and a man was robbed of his phone and wallet after a suspect displayed a handgun.

Cameras from the Real-Time Crime Center (RTCC) captured the vehicle arriving and fleeing the gas station parking lot immediately after the robbery.

SLMPD’s Force Investigative Unit will lead the investigation into the police-involved shooting.
