ST. LOUIS, Mo. — Nearly a dozen people have been arrested by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department (SLMPD) in an effort to reduce crime after analyzing crime patterns and trends while also responding to neighborhood complaints in the Downtown area.
Officers have arrested nine individuals, resulting in numerous felony charges, since October 3, 2025. The shift in the patrol strategy was organized in direct response to emerging crime trends and community complaints about criminal activity.
“We are committed to addressing public safety concerns through proactive and focused policing,” said District 4 Captain Christian Stamper. “We will closely monitor crime patterns while listening to residents and business owners.”
Officers have conducted several investigations stemming from traffic stops and pedestrian checks. In one instance, officers stopped a man riding a bicycle carrying a large bundle of suspected stolen copper wire on his shoulder. Suspected narcotics were then located during the investigation.
In addition to locating individuals with outstanding warrants, officers seized a firearm, recovered a stolen vehicle, and located suspected narcotics and paraphernalia after witnessing several hand-to-hand drug transactions.
District 4 Commanders will work side-by-side with the department’s Crime Analysis Unit to monitor any additional shifts in crime patterns.
The SLMPD will continue to partner with the criminal justice system, including Mayor Cara Spencer’s administration, Office of Violence Prevention and Human Services to address neighborhood concerns.
