SLMPD Officers Demonstrate the Power of Community Policing

St. Louis, MO — A long-time St. Louis resident recently shared heartfelt words that capture the impact of dedicated police work in our neighborhoods:

“I felt like I was fighting these battles alone. That changed on June 1, 2025. That was the day I met Officer Kyle Ramsey of the Central Patrol Division, 3rd District.”

The resident had contacted the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department after discovering her electricity had been tampered with and was being stolen by individuals living in a vacant house next door. Despite her repeated efforts to resolve the issue, the problem persisted—leaving her feeling frustrated and overwhelmed.

District 3 Officers Kyle Ramsey and Elizabeth Hemingway responded to the call and quickly recognized the urgency of the situation. They coordinated with city resources to highlight the dangers posed by the tampered electrical system, not only to the resident’s property but also to the vacant structure next door. Working together, they helped secure and board up the vacant building and facilitated repairs to the electrical wiring, putting an end to the illegal power use.

Their efforts brought tremendous relief to the resident, who praised the officers for their dedication:

“Together, these two officers showed me what real community policing looks like. They didn’t just respond—they followed up. They’ve been patrolling the area with dedication, making residents feel seen, safe, and supported.”

Both Officer Ramsey and Officer Hemingway returned to serve the City of St. Louis after originally leaving to work at other agencies, and we are honored to have them back. Their commitment to proactive, compassionate policing reflects the very best of our department’s mission.
