Son Robs Father of His Car at Gunpoint While Fishing at the Riverfront

District 4 detectives are investigating an armed robbery in which a 19-year-old male took his father’s car at gunpoint on June 24 in the 3500 block of N. Wharf St.

At approximately 4:45 p.m., officers received a call for a robbery at the Riverfront. Upon arriving, police learned that the suspect was with his father and uncle while they were fishing and had complained of being hot. The suspect then told the victims that he was going to sit in their car. A short time later, the suspect returned with his father’s firearm and demanded the car keys from his father. The father relinquished his car keys to the suspect, and the suspect fled in his father’s vehicle with his uncle’s possessions still inside.

While still on scene investigating, officers were advised that the suspect wrecked the vehicle and abandoned it in the area of Halls Ferry & Monarch in St. Louis County. Detectives are still searching for the suspect.

No injuries were reported during this incident. The investigation is ongoing.
