Suspect Shoots at Brooklyn Illinois Police Officer

District 6 officers responded to the area of Interstate 70 and Shreve to assist Brooklyn Illinois Police around 12:20 a.m. on July 13.

A Brooklyn Illinois Police officer was pursuing a black Jeep Patriot that had been reported stolen in Illinois. While pursuing the vehicle eastbound on I-70 near the Shreve exit, an occupant of the Jeep emerged from the sunroof of the vehicle and fired shots at the officer’s vehicle.

The officer took evasive action and immediately exited the interstate. The officer was not injured and his vehicle did not sustain any ballistic damage.

The stolen Jeep Patriot was last seen continuing eastbound on I-70.

Multiple shell casings were located on the interstate where the officer indicated the incident occurred.

The investigation is ongoing.
