On January 18, 2025 around 1:47 PM, Officers were patrolling the Hyde Park neighborhood when they observed a vehicle driving at a high rate of speed. The vehicle came to an abrupt stop and the driver, a 21-year-old man, exited with an apparent gunshot wound to his face. On January 4, 2025 at 11pm, District 4 officers responded to a call for an accident on the entrance ramp for the Poplar Street Bridge from I-55 Northbound. When officers arrived, they located a vehicle that crashed into the back of a tractor trailer. The adult male driver of the vehicle was found unresponsive and died on scene.
