A 16-year-old male has died days after being struck by a vehicle on January 8 in the area of the 4000 block of Dr. Martin Luther King Drive.
At approximately 11:52 p.m. on January 8, officers received a call for a person struck at the location. Upon arriving, they located the 16-year-old lying in the street suffering from injuries and disoriented. A preliminary investigation revealed the teen was struck by an unknown sedan that left the scene. EMS transported the teen to the hospital at that time where it was revealed he sustained a head injury and broken ribs. He was listed in stable condition and later released from the hospital on January 11 after treatment.
On January 12, officers were called to a home in the 1800 block of N. Sarah after the teen was discovered deceased by his parent. While the death is believed to be relevant to the accident, the Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the official cause of death. The investigation is ongoing.
