Teen Shot in Hyde Park

District 4 is investigating a shooting that left a 17-year-old female injured on April 7, 2025 in Hyde Park.

At approximately 12:20 a.m., officers were called to the location for a report of a shooting. Upon arriving, they located the 17-year-old with a gunshot wound to her knee. The 17-year-old told officers she and her 18-year-old friend invited three males to her house. While there, an argument occurred between the 18-year-old and one of the males and then told the males to leave.

The 17-year-old said she and her 18-year-old friend walked the suspects out of the apartment and they entered a dark-colored SUV. When the 17-year-old and 18-year-old began walking back to the apartment, the 17-year-old said they heard gunshots and saw the males outside the SUV with guns pointed in their direction.

The 17-year-old said she ran and then noticed she was shot in the leg. The 18-year-old female was not injured.

EMS transported the 17-year-old to the hospital where she was listed in stable condition. The investigation is ongoing.
