Homicide Detectives are investigating a shooting that left a 16-year-old dead on May 1, 2025 in the 6300 block of Vermont.
Shortly after 2 a.m., officers received a call for a shooting. Upon arriving, they learned through a preliminary investigation that a 16-year-old male and an unknown number of accomplices (suspects) were breaking into cars at the location. At some point during the break-ins, the suspects were interrupted, and shots were fired. During the shooting, the 16-year-old was struck by the gunfire.
The suspects then placed the 16-year-old in a vehicle and dropped him off at the hospital where he was pronounced dead. The suspects fled from the hospital prior to police arriving.
An investigation remains underway to determine the full circumstances of what led up to the shooting.
