UPDATE: Two Killed, Three Injured Outside Smoke Shop

UPDATE: The 30-year-old deceased man has been positively identified as Liban Yusuf. The 21-year-old deceased man has been positively identified as Jaquan Connor.

Charges: On Sunday, March 22, 2026, the Circuit Attorney’s Office elected to issue charges of Murder 1st Degree and Armed Criminal Action against 26-year-old Luhizo Maalin for the shooting death of the 21-year-old Jaquan Connor.

Jaquan Connor is suspected of fatally shooting Liban Yusuf. He is also suspected of shooting and injuring the 29-year-old and 27-year-old. The 27-year-old’s condition has been downgraded to critical-unstable.

Liban Yusuf is suspected of shooting and injuring Jaquan Connor before he was fatally shot by Maalin. Yusuf is also suspected of shooting and injuring the 28-year-old man.

All involved parties are believed to be accounted for, and no one is believed to be outstanding.


On March 21, 2026 at approximately 3:46 PM, District 4 officers responded to a call for a shooting in the 1400 block of N 13th St. When they arrived, officers located three people shot.

A 30-year-old man, and a 21-year-old man, were located not conscious and not breathing. EMS arrived and pronounced both dead on scene.

A 27-year-old man, was located shot inside of a vehicle and was conscious and breathing. He was conveyed by EMS to an area hospital and listed in critical, but stable condition.

While officers were on scene, two additional men arrived at area hospitals by private conveyance with gunshot wounds. Both men, a 28-year-old and a 29-year-old, were listed in critical, but stable condition.

Homicide Detectives were requested and responded to conduct an investigation.

A preliminary investigation suggests that a gun fight erupted outside the smoke shop involving multiple people.

A 26-year-old man, who was not injured by gunfire, was suspected of being involved and detained pending further investigation.

The investigation remains ongoing.
