District 3 is investigating a shooting amongst two men that left them both injured on October 19, 2025 in the Mount Pleasant neighborhood.
Just before 1:15 p.m., officers received a call about shots being fired and a ShotSpotter notification in the 4200 block of S. Compton. Upon arriving, they located a scene of a shooting; however, no victims were located.
While on scene, officers were notified of an accident that occurred at I-55 & Gasconade, which was revealed to be related to the shooting. Upon arriving to the interstate, officers located a crash vehicle with a 23-year-old man inside that had been shot. Officers performed lifesaving measures on the man who was then transported to a hospital where he was listed in critical/unstable condition. A second shooting victim, a 33-year-old man, arrived at a hospital with a gunshot wound and was listed in critical but stable condition.
A preliminary investigation revealed the two men were involved in a shootout with each other while in the 4200 block of S. Compton. An investigation into the motive behind the shooting is still underway.
