District 3 is investigating a shooting that left a 25-year-old woman injured on December 11, 2025 in The Gate District.
Around 4:30 p.m., officers received a call for a shooting in the 2600 block of Rutger. Upon arriving, they located the 25-year-old woman suffering from a gunshot wound inside a vehicle. She was not conscious but breathing. An SLMPD responding officer performed life-saving measures on the woman until EMS arrived and she was transported to a hospital. She was listed in critical/unstable condition and later determined to be in critical but stable condition.
A preliminary investigation revealed the 25-year-old woman was sitting inside a vehicle with a friend when gunshots rang out north of the location. A description of the suspect(s) was not able to be determined. No other injuries were reported as a result of this incident.
