District 5 is investigating a shooting that left a 20-year-old woman injured on July 30 in the West End neighborhood.
Just before 8:40 p.m., officers received a call for a shooting in the 5600 block of Enright. Upon arriving, they located the 20-year-old woman suffering from a gunshot wound to her abdomen.
The 20-year-old woman’s statement was limited due to her condition. However, she was able to report she was shot by an unknown suspect while standing with a friend next to the friend’s car. The friend, a 40-year-old male, provided inconsistent statements to police but claimed to have been robbed by an unknown suspect at some point prior to the shooting.
EMS responded and transported the 20-year-old woman to the hospital where she was listed in critical but stable condition. The investigation is ongoing.
