Lt. Col. Eric Larson started with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department on February 22, 1995, as a Commissioned Officer assigned to the Second District. After 9 years in the Second District, he was transferred to the Laboratory/Identification Unit where he served for 11 years. While assigned to the Laboratory/Identification Unit he was promoted to Sergeant, February 2010, to Lieutenant, June 2013 and Captain September 2015.

Lt. Col. Larson served as the Captain of the Fifth District, as well as in the Investigative Services and Planning & Research Divisions. On April 15, 2018, he was promoted to Major and served as the Deputy Commander of the Specialized Enforcement Unit and of the Deputy Commander of the Bureau of Professional Standards. In November of 2023 he was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel and he currently serves as the Commander of Crime Control Strategies.

Lt. Col. Larson has received the Award of Excellence five times, the Chief Letter of Commendation twice, and the Officer of the Month Award three times. He has a bachelor’s degree in criminology from University of Missouri-STL, and a Juris Doctorate from St. Louis University School of Law.
